The Trust board has disbanded the Local Governing Body and in its place constituted an Interim Management Board (IMB). This will provide the necessary urgent and consistent focus on the drive and monitoring of improvement necessary to secure rapid school improvement.
The IMB will meet monthly and operate as an enhanced governance entity, driving improvement with the school leadership and monitoring progress.
The IMB will have as its members:
- Dr Pat McGovern (Chair)
- Peter Brown
- Father Jon Bielawski
- Lesley Clark
- Paul Cotter
Dr Pat McGovern
Pat has worked extensively in schools and has recently retired as the Principal of Helston College which is the largest secondary school in Cornwall. He was the Chief School’s Adviser in Plymouth and now works as an independent consultant as well as facilitating leadership training for the National College.
I have been Headteacher at St Cuthbert Mayne Joint Roman Catholic and Anglican School in Torquay for 3 years, where I previously held the posts of Deputy Headteacher and Assistant Headteacher 14-19. I was very proud that in November 2016 OFSTED judged the school to be good in all areas, and recognised my school leaders to be aspirational and role models of excellence. During my 26 years of teaching I have also held leadership posts in Dorset and Cornwall. I am presently a member of the Children’s Improvement Board for Torbay and the Torbay Safeguarding Children Board. As a school leader I am passionate about ensuring that every student flourishes and is happy at school regardless of background or prior attainment. My faith is central to all I do.
Lesley retires this Summer after 44 years teaching Humanities in various secondary schools in Cambridgeshire, Hampshire, London and Devon. She has been Head of RE in three schools, Coordinator of Humanities, Exams Officer, and Director of Academic Studies as part of a Senior Management team. In 2011 she semi- retired and has continued teaching Religious Studies at GCSE and A level as well as managing the cover arrangements for staff absence. She has been the Initial Teacher Training Coordinator and mentor to PGCE students for the past 20 years and has been in charge of the induction of Newly Qualified Teachers since 2000.
